New Seven Poets app blurs lines between fiction and reality

Dallas, Tx, July 17, 2012 — Edmund Pevensey, LLC, a Dallas-based 21st century storytelling company, announces the release of Seven Poets and the Assassin’s Secret, a realtime, serialized novel told through an iOS application. This project is the first of its kind and the beginning of a new type of interactive entertainment — entertainment that pushes readers out into the real world and bleeds stories and myths into reality.

Seven Poets and the Assassin’s Secret is a novel written by Matthew A. Brown, CEO of Edmund Pevensey, LLC. The chapters from the novel will be released in realtime beginning August 12, 2012 through a custom iOS application designed and developed by inkle Studios in the UK, creators of the Frankenstein application and inklewriter. This new medium will allow the fictional world to expand beyond what’s possible in a bound novel or even an ebook. “It’s exciting for any artist to explore a new medium,” says Matthew A. Brown, “And being a writer in an era rumored to be the death of books, it’s a particular pleasure to push the boundaries of the written word.”

The Seven Poets and the Assassin’s Secret application will include a newsroom, which will incorporate real-world events into the fictional story, and a “challenges” section, where readers can unlock digital rewards by completing various tasks, such as traveling by new means, starting a journal, or hosting a dinner party.

“The Seven Poets app is a real-time novel,” says Jon Ingold, Creative Director at inkle Studios, “It’s connected, it’s cloud-based, it has game play, it grows with you over time...but at its heart, it’s a strong and exciting story. It just happens to live on your phone.”

Edmund Pevensey, LLC is a Dallas-based start-up founded in 2011 to develop and tell entertaining stories in engaging ways, using all available and appropriate technology. Seven Poets and the Assassin’s Secret is the first property being released under the Edmund Pevensey umbrella.

inkle Studios was founded in 2011 by two former Sony game designers, and has received considerable praise for its fluid and creative adaptation of a literary classic in the interactive app Frankenstein, written by Dave Morris and published by Profile Books.
